The main objective of the Right to Information (RTI) Law, Act 989, is to promote transparency and accountability in governance by giving citizens the right to access information held by public institutions, such as government departments, agencies, and institutions like GCTU. The law aims to:
- Foster a culture of transparency and openness
- Promote accountability and good governance
- Empower citizens to participate in decision-making processes
- Enhance public trust in institutions
By providing access to information, the RTI Law enables citizens to make informed decisions, hold institutions accountable, and exercise their rights
