The RTI law does not enjoin applicants to pay for information, except for the cost incurred in the reproduction (printing or photocopy) of the information requested. Thus, the fees must not be exorbitant.

Fees:

• – Printing: GHC 0.38 per A4-size page
• – Photocopying: GHC 0.27 per A4-size page
• – Electronic storage: GHC 0.29 for a copy of a computer-readable file

Exemptions:

• – Personal information
• – Public interest
• – Delayed response
• – Financial hardship (individuals with disabilities or indigents)

Waivers:

• – Processing and access charges may be waived if costs exceed the likely amount of the charge
